What's that no more books I did not finish? Well I've decided to give that series of posts a rest for a little bit mainly because I'm at Uni right now and therefore can't cart my book case round with me, making if difficult to track down all the books I didn't finish reading so, for now Books I Did Not Finish is over. I know you're all so disappointed! But never fear, I may slip one in here and there when I'm home for the weekend!
So instead today is a book review and a new release at that!
Simple Perfection (Rosemary Beach# 5)
by
Abbi Glines
Simple Perfection is the fifth book in the Rosemary Beach Series by Abbi Glines (other books in this series are, Fallen Too Far, Never Too Far, Twisted Perfection and Forever Too Far). Simple Perfection is the continuation of Woods (first seen in Fallen Too Far - Rush and Blaire's story) and Della's story from book 1 in the Perfection series, Twisted Perfection.
Did that make sense? A little confusing but let's role with it.
"Woods had his perfect life mapped out for him. Rise up the ranks of the family business. Marry the rich girl of his parents' dreams. Pretend that wealth and privilege was all he'd ever wanted. Then a girl named Della breezed into town, a beautifully imperfect stranger who captured his heart and opened his eyes to a new kind of future. Woods is ready and willing to sacrifice everything for her when the sudden death of his father leaves him with not only his mother to care for but a business to manage too.
Della is determined to be strong for Woods, even as she's quietly falling to pieces. No matter how far from home she runs, the ghosts from her past have never stopped haunting her. Struggling to hide her true feelings from Woods, Della fears she can't be his rock without dragging him down into the darkness with her. But is she strong enough to let go of what might be the last thing that is still holding her together?"
That blurb does not do this book justice not one bit. Let's just get that out there. I was almost put off reading this book because I thought it sounded a little boring but I'm glad I decided to read it!
I never thought I could love an Abbi Glines character as much as I love Rush. Wood's may have just done, that in the same way I never thought I would hate an Abbi Glines character as much as I hated Nan, but once again Angelina put up a pretty good fight to be the biggest bitch of the series, luckily for us she doesn't hang around like a bad smell for too long like Nan does.
I loved Della. Okay she may have jumped to conclusions a little, but I liked seeing the story of her journey of facing her fears and realising that she wasn't as broken as she thought she was. I like that Ms Glines decided to separate the two of them for a portion of the book, because I am one of those people that believes you can't love someone else until you learn to love yourself. How could Della love Woods and allow Woods to love her if she wasn't able to do the same, she needed to fix herself, she couldn't rely on Woods for everything and I think it makes her strong character that she left to fix herself. It was also refreshing that Woods didn't do the typical Alpha-male bullshit of dragging her back against her will. That wouldn't have sat right and I'm glad it didn't happen that way. I'm glad it was Della's choice to go back to Woods.
Long story short, I've really enjoyed reading Woods and Della's story and I feel that a lot of people will too, there is a twist towards the end that I didn't see coming (I thought something else was going to happen but I was so far off the mark) it did make me a little emotional I didn't cry but it was sad. Rest assured for all of you who are worried about a cliff hanger, there is a Happily Ever After ending (okay it might be a small cliff hanger but it will leave you smiling).
Because that ending was so damn cute!
SPOILER!!!
Woods proposed where they first met, he had it all planned. The gas station, the Mexican restaurant, the truck, the erm hotel room! I thought that was cute!
IT IS NOW SAFE TO READ AGAIN!!!
A couple of points to make, if you like reading the end of Forever Too Far when Blaire pulls a gun on Angelina well you get to see it from Della's point of view in this book! I loved that!
And also I know a lot of people said that they thought Blaire and Rush were just too sickly sweet a romance for them, well Woods and Della are sweet and cute but not on the sickly sweet level that Blaire and Rush are so I think that's a plus for a lot of readers!
I gave this book 4/5 stars!
That's all for today I hope you enjoyed this post and I shall see you all on Wednesday!
