Hello everyone and welcome back to Book's I Did Not Finish!
It's not exactly a happy Monday for me, rain. *sighs* is it raining where you are too? Well don't worry I'm here to cheer up with my ramblings about why I couldn't finish a book. At least I hope it will be somewhat entertaining.
This weeks instalment features another series! Let's here it for all the series out there that started off good but just got worse and worse!
Just like Starcrossed (last weeks series I did not finish) I absolutely loved the first book. Though I hated the characters names (I know that is really picky of me but there you go) I still enjoyed the basis of the story.
This book wasn't exactly what I expected let's look at the blurb shall we?
It sounds so serious and dark and twisted and swoon worthy with forbidden love and angst. I was drawn in hook line and sinker. This book had a lot of witty one liners the 'banter' between Patch and Nora was really cool they just bounced off each other, and honestly I can't say I have a bad word to say about this book and I know that's really boring of me but I actually enjoyed it.
The sequel meh, not so much. Nora was just a whiny bitch. Patch was an A grade douche. Nora broke up with Patch but spent most the break up whining and bitching about how much she missed but hated him (god give me strength) and Patch well Patch I have no words, he invades her dreams to make out with her (creepy. creepier than Edward Cullen watching Bella whilst she sleeps that's for sure) punches a guy square in the face whilst Nora sits there screaming because he walked on them making out (douche) (oh does this count as a love triangle I can't decide it still pissed me off either way). But no apparently the worst thing Patch ever did to her was kissing Marcie, yeah okay Nora, that was the WORST thing he ever did (note major sarcasm). I don't even want to write out the the blurb for this book it annoyed me that much but just in case you're interested you can find it here.
Now then that might all be valid reasons to stop reading a series right? Only that isn't why I stopped. Granted I never did actually pick up the third book but that was mainly because I mostly forgot about it and by the time I did remember the fourth book was about to be release. . .
Wait what? 4 books? There was only meant to be three! Why is there a fourth? what is going on?? Yep those were my exact reactions when I found out and that is the reason I never finished this series. I can just about deal with a douche bag hero (if he becomes good in the end) and a whiny heroine but the minute the author decides to write more books than originally planned sighting the excuse there was more story to tell, that is when I give up and turn away without regret. That's not the real reason is it. These books were very popular they made a lot of money, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the publishers/ authors idea to milk it for all it was worth in the end.
Yes I know it's a stupid reason to not finish a series, but it just get's my back up and I start pacing round saying with indignation it's a matter of principle. She said three books, why make it four there is no need and from what I've heard from people who have read all four it could have easily been done in three. Ms Fitzpatrick, I believe they call it beating a dead horse. You should've stopped at three. That was enough.
Did you read this book? Did you finish the series? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below, I'm not going to ask you to try and convince me to finish this series because it's not going to happen.

Hush Hush & Crescendo
by
Becca Fitzpatrick
Tagline: A FALLEN ANGEL . . . A FORBIDDEN LOVE
It's another YA paranormal romance! Can't really be anything else can it. I've said it before I'm a sucker for a good love story and when it's a forbidden love story, even better. The difference with this book is that the paranormal side is angels. And I know that's a pretty common 'creature' to use today but when I first picked this book up I hadn't actually read a paranormal book that had angels in it. That is why I originally chose to read it.
Now then, the only thing I remember about getting Hush Hush is that my friend gave me the first chapter to read during lunch break in high school, I'm talking at least four years ago here. She had gotten the first chapter free in a magazine I think. I read it thought it was okay and then forgot about it. A couple of months later I saw it the book store and picked it up, and the rest is history.

"Romance was not part of Nora Grey's plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, not matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgement.
But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life."
