Monsters University : A Review!

I know, I know.

I'm so late with this it's not even funny! And to think I consider myself to be a pretty big Disney fan, slacking on the job over here. But that doesn't matter, because I have finally watched it and that's all that counts right!
Today's post if you couldn't all ready guess by the title is a review of . . . .

Monsters University!

Tagline: School Never Looked This Scary!

Okay, disclaimer if you're reading this review because you're looking for something impartial and informative leave. I'm not being mean it's just I am a Disney freak and there is no way for me to be impartial about anything related to Disney I will however try and keep the fan girling to a minimum, deal?

If you're looking for a fun, reminiscent Disney-fied review then welcome, you're in the right place!

Let's get started!

It wouldn't be a a review without watching the trailer would it (okay maybe it would but I just like watching the trailer so you know humour me!)

If you don't agree with my first point, then we cannot be friends.
How cute is baby Mike! I just want to give him a cuddle he's adorable, especially when he get's given the MU hat by the scarer!

Okay one of the things that I really loved about this film were all the nods to the previous film Monsters Inc, as a way of connecting the two. I thought that was cool. But really I guess you can't expect anything less from Disney and Pixar when they are constantly putting little objects from different films into each other like how in Monsters Inc, Boo had a teddy of Nemo.
In this film the little nods to Monsters Inc that I spotted was obviously, the scarer's slow motion walk onto the scare floor at the start of the film, then there was also Mike telling Randall to lose the glasses, causing him to have the permanent squint that was present in the character in Monsters Inc, and then obviously Mike had the teddy bear with him that Boo became so fascinated with in the original film.

One more thing, is it wrong that I thought Baby Randall was cute too, I mean surely we aren't supposed to like him and we saw his transformation in this film as he says in the last round of the scare games, "That's the last time I lose to you Sullivan."
Let's not forget did anyone else notice how Sully had the fur on his head gelled up like a proper teenage boy!

What I thought was cool was that Pixar weren't afraid to show the partying side to University (I know it won't be on the scale of real Universities but still they could have just ignored that) I guess it's testament to how Pixar have pretty much always been able to appeal to children and to adults.
Other things that were reminiscent of University were the Sororities and Fraternity's, the football games, the shared dorm rooms, non of which we have in the UK except for obviously sports competitions, so it's cool to see.

Seriously everything in this film is soooo cute!! Can I be a member of Oozma Kappa??? Please? I know we're supposed to feel bad for them when they are cuti-fied at the party but I just thought it was adorable I couldn't help but laugh, that's bad isn't it, I'm sorry guys!

Obviously the Scare Games was also a pretty cool aspect of it, my heart broke to begin with because I thought they had actually been knocked out in the first round. But we also get to see how ultimately Mike became Sully's training partner on the Scare Floor rather than an actual scarer.

Who didn't love the trip to Monsters Inc that brought everyone together, Mike and Sully admitted they had both been jerks, and everyone started working together as a team which obviously lead into to the obligatory, training montage, with music!

I was sad when I realised what Sully had done, (not saying what it is in case some people haven't seen it I don't want to spoil it)
I loved how Mike came to realise that he was better at training scarer's then he was being one, they made the perfect team. And the ending was perfect too, showing how Mike and Sully finally made it to become a scare partnership at Monsters Incorporated. That was a nice touch though I suppose they couldn't just leave us hanging.

And let's not forget the little Ros cameo at the end, with her face all covered up so they wouldn't realise who she was in the end and the fact that she said there and then that they would be keeping an eye on them, another nod to the original film!

All in all I absolutely loved this film, even if I would have also liked a Boo cameo, it was still an awesome Dinsey Pixar movie that I have no doubt I will watch to death in the future! I give it 5/5

That's all for today I hope you enjoyed this post and I shall see you all on Friday!
